frequently asked questions
Question:
I have rusted gutters and some spot rusting on my roof, what should I use?
Answer:
The product of choice is Noxyde. Noxyde is a water borne anti corrosive coating-please click on downloads for the Noxyde brochure. Noxyde contains rust inhibitors and is designed for application to sound, tight rust. Preparation is either by wire brush or high pressure water wash or a combination of both. Because Noxyde is water based it requires some warmth and or breeze to cure. In cold conditions but above 5 degrees C it is best applied in the morning and or early afternoon with ample time left in the day for curing. Applying multable thin coats over the course of the day can assist in achieving the required dry film thinkness of one third of a millimetre. We recommend using Mathys Fleece (matting) over all the gutter joins. 200mm wide with Noxyde. Also it is recommended that you reinforce any badly rusted areas and over pin holes etc with the fleece. The coating is applied in thick layers as a membrane, not thin like a paint.
